As the sole videographer and editor, I produced a compelling interview with Dr. Hanish Patel, an optometrist, to highlight the monitors’ benefits, resulting in over 8,000 social media views and a 6% sales increase over three months.

Problem

BenQ needed to differentiate their EyeCare Monitors in a competitive market by showcasing their unique eye health features—blue light blocking, adaptive brightness, and color temperature adjustments. The challenge was to convey these technical benefits in a way that was relatable and credible to potential customers, driving engagement and sales through a targeted marketing campaign.

Research & Discovery

The marketing team identified Dr. Hanish Patel, a reputable optometrist in Manhattan, NY, as the ideal spokesperson to validate the monitors’ effectiveness. To ensure authenticity, BenQ provided Dr. Patel and his staff with EyeCare Monitors for daily use in their office prior to the shoot. This allowed Dr. Patel to offer an informed, honest review based on real-world experience, which was critical to building trust with viewers.

Approach & Process

1.  Planning: Collaborated with the marketing team to design a video strategy that emphasized authenticity. We chose Dr. Patel’s Manhattan office as the shoot location to create a professional, credible backdrop that aligned with the medical context of eye health.

2.  Production: As the sole videographer, I traveled to Manhattan and managed all aspects of the on-site shoot, including camera setup, lighting, and directing the flow of the interview. A marketer conducted the interview, allowing me to focus on capturing high-quality footage.

3.  Editing: Post-production involved crafting three versions of the video—a full 2:30 interview, plus 30- and 60-second cuts optimized for social media and email campaigns. I used Adobe Premiere Pro to ensure a crisp, clean aesthetic that highlighted Dr. Patel’s expertise and the monitors’ features.

4.  Distribution: The videos were deployed across social media platforms and linked to a dedicated landing page, guiding viewers to learn more and purchase the monitors.

Solution

The final deliverables included a 2:30 interview video and shorter 30- and 60-second versions, featuring Dr. Patel discussing the monitors’ impact on reducing eye strain in his office. Filming in his professional environment lent authenticity, while the editing emphasized key benefits like blue light reduction and adaptive brightness. The videos were integrated into a broader campaign, driving traffic to a landing page designed to convert viewers into customers.

Learnings & Reflections

This project successfully drove engagement and sales by leveraging a credible spokesperson and a targeted video strategy. However, I identified an opportunity to improve audio quality, as the basic recording setup used was not optimal. For future shoots, I implemented more sophisticated audio equipment and recording techniques to ensure professional-grade sound, enhancing overall production quality.
