The Pub Passport

Cannon’s Corner Irish Pub | Oak Cliff, Texas

Campaign: 2026 FIFA World Cup
Role: Marketing & Creative Director

Overview

For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, I developed and managed The Pub Passport, a customer engagement and experiential marketing program for Cannon’s Corner Irish Pub in Oak Cliff, Texas.

The initiative was designed to encourage repeat business throughout the tournament and establish Cannon’s Corner as a neighborhood destination for soccer fans. By rewarding guests for attending multiple Dallas-hosted matches, the program transformed individual game-day visits into an ongoing customer loyalty experience.

What began as a targeted promotional campaign quickly grew into a highly successful initiative that generated repeat business, expanded brand recognition, and connected Cannon’s Corner with soccer fans beyond the local community.

The Concept

Guests received a custom-branded passport and earned a stamp from pub staff for every Dallas-hosted World Cup match they attended and watched at Cannon’s Corner.

Guests who completed their passports received a limited-edition branded pint glass and were automatically entered into a raffle for a $200 Cannon’s Corner gift card.

The program created a simple but effective engagement loop:

Attend a match → Earn a stamp → Return for the next match → Complete the passport → Earn a collectible reward → Enter the raffle

This structure encouraged guests to make Cannon’s Corner part of their World Cup routine rather than visiting only for a single match.

Strategy & Creative Execution

The campaign combined customer loyalty, experiential marketing, event promotion, and hospitality branding into a physical, collectible experience.

The passport was designed around the visual language of a traditional travel document, incorporating Cannon’s Corner branding and Irish pub aesthetics. The concept connected the international character of the World Cup with the pub’s identity as a local gathering place.

The physical passport also served as a lasting brand touchpoint. Guests could keep it as a souvenir of their tournament experience, extending the campaign beyond the pub itself.

Scaling the Program

The initial production run included 100 passports. Within the first week of the World Cup, all 100 had been distributed, exceeding the original expectations for participation.

Due to the immediate demand, we ordered an additional 100 passports to accommodate continued interest throughout the tournament.

The rapid depletion of the initial inventory demonstrated strong customer engagement and validated the passport concept as a compelling incentive for repeat visits.

Adapting to Customer Demand

As the program expanded, we recognized that some guests had discovered Cannon’s Corner after the promotion had already begun and had missed the opportunity to collect the earliest stamps.

To accommodate these guests while preserving the value of the original completion incentive, we introduced a secondary raffle for participants who had collected five or more passport stamps.

Rather than simply excluding late participants, this adjustment gave newer guests a meaningful way to engage with the campaign while maintaining the core objective of driving repeat visits.

The Secondary Raffle: Local Meets Global

To create a distinct reward for the secondary raffle, we collaborated with one of Cannon’s Corner's vendors to produce a custom branded neon sign commemorating the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The sign incorporated a specific reference to Dallas, Texas, intentionally reinforcing the relationship between the global tournament and the local community in which Cannon’s Corner operates.

This reward extended the campaign's central creative idea: bringing the global World Cup experience into a distinctly local setting.

While the World Cup provided the international cultural moment, the neon sign gave participants a tangible reminder that they experienced it specifically in Dallas and at Cannon’s Corner.

The collaboration with a vendor also demonstrated the campaign's ability to leverage existing business relationships to create distinctive promotional assets and increase the perceived value of customer rewards.

Brand Recognition Beyond Oak Cliff

The Pub Passport generated brand exposure well beyond its intended local audience.

A number of international travelers who participated in the program took their passports back to their home countries as souvenirs of their World Cup experience at Cannon’s Corner.

This extended the campaign's physical brand presence beyond the pub and created opportunities for recognition in international markets. The passport became more than a promotional tool, it served as a tangible representation of Cannon’s Corner and its connection to the World Cup.

The initiative demonstrated how a locally focused hospitality campaign can generate broader brand awareness through a well-designed, collectible customer experience.

Organic Social Media Exposure

The program received additional exposure when a traveler created a TikTok video about The Pub Passport, praising the concept and sharing their experience with the program.

The video generated more than half a million views, providing significant organic exposure for Cannon’s Corner and introducing the brand to a much larger audience than the original campaign was designed to reach.

This was particularly valuable because the content was created independently by a participating traveler, offering an authentic customer perspective rather than traditional paid advertising.

The TikTok exposure amplified the campaign's reach and reinforced the passport concept as a memorable and shareable customer experience.

Results

The Pub Passport was a significant success in terms of repeat business, customer engagement, and brand recognition.

The initial 100 passports were distributed within the first week of the World Cup, prompting an additional order of 100. The secondary five-stamp raffle allowed newer participants to remain engaged while providing another incentive for repeat attendance.

The campaign also generated international brand exposure through travelers taking passports home and organic social media reach through a TikTok video that surpassed 500,000 views.

Impact

The Pub Passport successfully positioned Cannon’s Corner as a neighborhood soccer destination while creating a customer experience that extended beyond individual match days.

The program encouraged repeat attendance, rewarded customer loyalty, and gave guests physical keepsakes associated with their World Cup experience. The strong initial demand and continued participation demonstrated the effectiveness of using collectible rewards and gamification to drive repeat business in a hospitality environment.

The campaign also created brand recognition opportunities that extended far beyond Oak Cliff. Through international travelers, physical keepsakes, vendor collaborations, and organic social media exposure, Cannon’s Corner gained visibility with audiences well outside its immediate neighborhood.

Most importantly, the program connected the global scale of the FIFA World Cup with a distinctly local Dallas experience. From the passport guests carried home to the Dallas-referencing World Cup neon sign awarded through the secondary raffle, every element reinforced the idea that Cannon’s Corner was a place where an international sporting event could be experienced as part of the local community.

The success of The Pub Passport demonstrates how experiential marketing, customer loyalty programs, creative brand strategy, and community-focused event marketing can work together to create memorable experiences, drive repeat business, and generate organic brand awareness.
